First of all I love that picture – running the worlds highest marathon from Everest Base Camp. I love running and I think it’s an absolutely awesome goal that’s both motivating and inspiring.

Always start with the Why – it’s the reason we do things – it’s what keeps us going and motivates and inspires us when things get tough.

Running a race like this is about setting goals, creating a training plan, learning about health, fitness, nutrition, and executing your plan every single day until you achieve your goal.

It’s about knowing which parts to do, in what order, when to do them, and how much to do. It’s also about reviewing, monitoring, and changing what you do when you don’t get your expected outcomes.

Running an Awesome Business is no different.

I believe that when you look at your business you shouldn’t just want the standard elements – a sustainable business or a profitable business or a business that is growing etc..

Your business is the means to an end so that you can achieve your Why – to make money, have more time, enjoy the freedom to do what you want, leave a legacy, sell it one day, something else you want – or a mixture of all of them – that’s what will make it awesome

So – if you want to build an awesome business that includes all those standard elements – you also need to include your why – as it will motivate and inspire you to make it awesome – because that’s the reason why you started it in the first place.

Because – your Why should be the reason that gets you out of bed every single day to make your business awesome.

How to Build Your Awesome Business

If you were training for your Everest Marathon this is what you’d do:

This is where most businesses get stuck. Why? Because …..

….they do lots of things each day, they’re always very busy, sometimes they have a plan sometimes they don’t, they don’t look at the figures regularly and they don’t always know which products or services make or lose money, marketing is sporadic and not always planned, and more often than not the things that should be done that will make a real difference rarely get done ……. the list goes on.
